Bi Wei (pronounced be way) was born in Canton, China. Her formal art education began at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art, where she studied under a number of Chinese Masters and earned a Bachelors Degree of Fine Art.
In 1982 Bi Wei came to the United States to continued her studies at Massachusetts College of Art. In 1985 she graduated with the Alumni Award for leadership in the field of visual arts. Fascinated by the French and California Impressionists, and other master painters, such as Joaquin Sorolla and John Singer Sargent. Bi Wei concentrated on developing her own methods of using rich color to capture light in her work. The spontaneous blend of color and her romantic settings, presents the viewer with paintings that are truly alive.
In addition to her numerous exhibitions, Bi Wei's unique style of painting with an exceptional sense of light and color has made her work sought after throughout the U.S. Europe and Asia. Her originals now hang in numerous major hotels in New York, Chicago, Boston, Brussels, Thailand and Malaysia. Bi Wei is also published by Bruce McGaw Graphics and is one of their best selling artist. |
