Born in Astoria, Oregon in 1943, Dan Goozee' received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. In adddition to his work as a fine artist, he has had a successful career creating visual art for motion pictures, film advertising, and theme design. His film credits include Tora, Tora, Tora, The Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, Islands in the Stream, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He created original art for movie posters of The Mission, Crocodile Dundee, and three James Bond films, Moonraker, Octopussy, and View to a Kill. In addition, Dan has been a long term consultant with Walt Disney Imagineering producing visual designs and concept art for Disney theme parks around the world.
In 1993, Dan was invited to join in the resurgence of the historic California Art Club and began to paint en plein aire as well as continuing his studio paintings. As a fine artist, he has won awards from Oil Painters of America, Watercolor West, and the California National Watercolor Society. In 1994 he won the Gold Medal for figure painting at the 85th Annual Gold Medal Show of the California Art Club. In 1998 and 2000 he received first place awards at the California Art Club's annual plein aire event at Mission San Juan Capistrano. One of his paintings of the historic mission hangs in the American Embassy in Madrid . Spain .
Dan's paintings hang in numerous collections including that of Joan Irvine Smith, The Walt Disney Company, Wells Fargo Bank, Grumbacher Co., and the historic Los Angeles Athletic Club. His work has been featured in articles in Art-Talk, Art of the West, International Artist Magazine, and Southwest Art. He is a signature member of both the California Art Club and Oil Painters of America
